Severnside Senior Citizens' Club

The Severnside Club is a monthly lunch club for Senior Citizens of the villages alongside the River Severn from Tewkesbury southwards to Ashleworth. It is held in Apperley Village Hall on the first Tuesday of most months except January starting at 11.30 am and finishing at 3.00 pm. Members with limited mobility can usually be accommodated.

The morning consists of coffee on arrival, meeting up and chatting with friends, relaxing with a newspaper and looking forward to lunch.

A two course freshly cooked dinner is served at the tables at about 12.45, and special dietary needs are usually accommodated when registered.

A table raffle is held each session for those who wish to take part, sometimes a bring and buy table is available, and birthdays are recognized and celebrated each month.

The afternoon will involve an activity such as a speaker or entertainer, a public service information talk, quizzes, light games, music etc. bringing the whole day to a close by 3.00 pm.  A summer outing is arranged usually for the July club day.

For those who do not have their own transport a minibus collects from certain areas to bring members in and to return them home.

The club is funded by members’ monthly subscriptions - currently only £3.50 plus 50 pence for the raffle – supported by grants from some of the parish councils in the areas served.

The aim of the voluntary organizers is to provide a happy day for the members to come out and enjoy at low expense.  For more details telephone 01452 7805610.
